FAQ

Yes. This online OSSD is inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education and is qualified to issue OSSD credits, which are the same credits earned by students in public schools and private schools in the province of Ontario.

You can register for a course online any day of the year. Once a student registers for an online OSSD course they will need to complete the course in 10 months from the first date of the course. Students are required to log into the online learning portal at least 3 times a week. Each course is 110 hours long (110 hours include 50% of offline self-study instructional hours and 50% online self-study).

You can visit registration page here for more info.

Once the registration process is complete, students will receive an initial email confirming their registration and payment. A second email will be sent with the student’s username and a password link. Typically, this email is received after 24 hours.

Full-time students take a full course load of 6-8 credits per year. Part-time students can be active in no more than 2 classes at one time and may not take more than 8 credits per year. Most of the online OSSD courses are one-credit classes.

The timeline for course completion will be flexible to meet the needs of students.Typically, students will complete a 1-credit course in about 12 to 16 weeks. Students could opt to accelerate the pace of these courses or request additional time if they find the coursework too challenging.

Students are free to log-in and work on their course material at their own pace. Each course is designed to take 110 hours to complete. All course assignments, including the final exam, must be completed within 10 months from the start of enrollment.

Regular attendance at the course is critical for the student’s learning and achievement of course expectations. Where, in the principal’s judgment, a student’ s frequent absences from courses are jeopardizing his or her successful completion of a course, school staff will arrange to contact the student and parents to explain the potential consequences of the absences, including failure to gain credits, and discuss steps that could be taken to improve attendance.

Students are expected to login 3 times each week, not including scheduled holidays, for the entire duration of their course. If a student fails to login to their course three times in a single week then an absence will be recorded on their report card.

Any high school or adult student may apply to online OSSD. Online OSSD will accept international high school and adult students. Part-time students may enroll in online OSSD for academic enrichment, accelerate their progress in a traditional high school program or finish uncompleted coursework. Students who intend to graduate from online OSSD may apply to pursue full time studies.

Yes, we welcome students living anywhere in the world. All that you will need to complete your course is a computer and an internet connection.
